Rich, velvety macaroni coated in a smooth homemade cheddar cheese sauce that comes together in under 25 minutes.
食材
- ✓227 g elbow macaroni
- ✓30 ml unsalted butter
- ✓30 ml all-purpose flour
- ✓480 ml whole milk
- ✓480 ml sharp cheddar cheese
- ✓0.5 tsp salt
- ✓0.3 tsp black pepper
- ✓0.3 tsp garlic powder
仔细检查食谱的准确性。
说明
1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil, add the elbow macaroni, and cook according to package directions until al dente, about 7 to 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
💡
提示:Do not rinse the cooked pasta; the surface starches help the cheese sauce cling thoroughly.
2
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until bubbling and lightly golden to eliminate the raw flour flavor.
💡
提示:Whisk continuously to ensure the butter and flour cook evenly without scorching.
3
Gradually pour in the warmed milk while whisking steadily to prevent lumps. Simmer over medium-low heat for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
💡
提示:Warming the milk slightly in advance keeps the sauce velvety and prevents flour clumps from forming.
4
Remove the saucepan from the heat source. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until the cheese is completely melted and glossy.
💡
提示:Taking the pan off the direct heat before adding the cheese prevents the fats from separating and turning grainy.
5
Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce and gently fold until every piece is evenly coated. Serve warm.
💡
提示:If the sauce becomes too thick upon standing, stir in a splash of warm milk to restore its creaminess.
📝厨师备注
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently over low heat or in the microwave with a tablespoon of milk to loosen the sauce.
