Prepare the Brussels sprouts: Wash and trim the tough ends. Remove any yellowed outer leaves. For medium-sized sprouts, slice them in half lengthwise. For very large sprouts, cut them into quarters to ensure even cooking.
Whisk the glaze: In a medium bowl, combine the olive oil, soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
đĄ Tip: Adjust the red pepper flakes to your spice preference. Start with less and add more if you desire more heat.
Coat the sprouts: Add the prepared Brussels sprouts to the bowl with the glaze. Toss thoroughly until each sprout is evenly coated. Ensure the glaze gets into all the nooks and crannies.
Air fry in batches if necessary: Arrange the coated Brussels sprouts in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to allow for maximum crisping. If your air fryer is small, cook in two batches.
Cook and crisp: Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 10 minutes. Open the air fryer, shake the basket vigorously to redistribute the sprouts, and continue cooking for another 6-10 minutes, or until tender on the inside and nicely browned and crispy on the edges.
Garnish and serve: Once cooked, transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving dish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for added texture and visual appeal.
đĄ Tip: For an extra burst of freshness, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a sprinkle of chopped chives can be added just before serving.
